Facetime, a research firm, has found out recently, that most of the spyware and malware threats, in the second quarter of the year 2007, are targeted towards the random, general public using Instant Messengers and Pier - to - Pier (P2P), as propagation mediums. There has also been a five percent increase in the threats, since the first quarter of the year 2007. As compared to last years results, which showed a thirty five percent decrease in spyware related security threats; this underlines, and only further emphasizes for the need of viable security applications that are needed to protect and safe guard your privacy and your computer against such threats.

According to the findings, a total number of three hundred and seventeen, spyware related incidents were reported during the second quarter of the year 2007. The findings also suggest that the malware and spyware threats peak every year, especially in the spring and fall seasons, which is followed b a lull, in the summer and winter seasons; it also suggests that the rise is cyclical and ever increasing, year after year. Up until now the maximum number of reported spyware and malware related, threats has been reported in the month of June, this year and if previous patterns do hold, you can expect a slight decline in the summer, again followed by an up swell in early fall.
